Derek believe Guys/Girls can't be JUST FRIENDS, thus......

This goes back to something I've been meaning to mention.

Derek has been painted the PLAYER from the very beginning, a "skirt chasing cad" if you will. And here's the thing. Ashley's outward beauty(thus casey's outward beauty) is undeniable. Completely totally, nobody can tell you that she is not an attractive girl, certainly more attractive then some of the girls Derek has gone out with over the course of the show.

And while its true that when Sam points this out(her beauty) in an early episode, and Derek says "your BLIND". We all can deduce that her beauty is so stark that even derek sees it but chooses not to, likely because she's his "step-sister".

Some anti's might argue that Derek finds Casey annoying, or something along those lines. But Derek also dated the very very annoying Kendra. In my opinion, someone who, as a girlfriend anyways, comes off far more annoying then casey could ever be. AND Derek has also stated his only qualification in a girl is that she be "hot".

This is where the line in "just friends" comes into play. Derek says that girls and guys can't be friends. It just can't happen without something getting in the way....

is it not further proof then that Derek is the way he is to Casey(partially if not majorly) because he is in fact AFRAID to be her friend? Believing it will undoubtedly lead to other kinds of feelings. I mean, cummon, the character of Derek, the way he is written, must have at least had it cross his mind(Daseyness) and probably freaked right the heck out. Thus, his constant DENIAL of Casey's blatently good looks. Nay, phenomenal looks.

Take into account that he doesnt treat Lizzie the way he treats Casey, not even edwin, and certainly not marti.

To the best of my recollection, Derek doesnt actually admit to thinking she's attractive in the Babe Raider episode. Just that she's dressing provocatively(cant remember the actual adjective he uses).

I sincerely don't believe there is anything between Ash and Mike other then close friendship, but thats another story. ;)

But i don't agree with their theory either. One of my best friends is a guy and we've been friends since preschool. It has yet to become awkward between us, and neither of us are gay. Then I have three guys that I've known since I was 3 (they're brothers) and, again, it has yet to become awkward. Very Happy

I would like to just say that i dont agree with it either, I am solely trying to come from the standpoint of Derek's train of thought.
