I have an '87 GP1000 that I want to "convert" to the '88 model, as it sounds better/fuller to my ears. This is due to that they are so hard to get by over here.

I know the 88 has one extra gainstage and I also know there are differences in the tonestack for mid and bass, so that's what I'm trying to replace.

What the exact differences?
