I recently bought a used VL-503 through eBay. The amp sounds great, but the effects loop is not working.

Has anyone else had this problem, and, if so, how did you address it?

Thanks for the help.

I believe it does. I'll try that.

Any recommendations for a replacement brand?

Thanks.

jay h,,,after reading a bit,,the EFX loop is driven by a 12ax7 tube,,,any guitar amp store should have one handy or get one for you,,, the 12ax7 is the most common preamp tube in todays modern amps,,,that being said,,,As far as a EFX loop tube just about anything should work as long as it's not micro phonic,,,
And if you got any other tube guitar amps sitting around,,, I would try one 12ax7 tube from a working amp first,,,

Just a note,,, If you find that your effects loop is a little noisy ,,,dont be afraid to substitute a 12au7 or a 12at7 in place of the 12ax7,,,the 12au7 has about 70% of the gain of a 12ax7,,,and the 12at7 ,,about 50% of a 12ax7,,,,

This also works well in the V2 preamp socket,,for peeps looking for more headroom for the preamp controls ,,and cleaner sound,,,

Keep on aRockin,,,,,
