You say the volume keeps dropping ,,, as in you fire it up ,, it works ,,, for a bit ,, then the volume drops,,,?

If thats the case ,,sounds like as it gets warm it looses signal,,,

And about the output tubes ,, be sure they are the correct ones for that unit ,,,Ive seen peeps on ebay selling these with 6v6's ,, and 6L6's in the output section,,,lol

Far as I know the 50 watters came with 4 6v6's ,, I bet the 100 watt version of the stealth has 4 6L6's,, but don't quote me on that,,,

Besides checking all the tubes ,,,, you might inspect inside the chassis ,,if like other Ampeg/Jackson amps,, the tube sockets ground to the chassis with screws or standoffs(can't remember ,,been awhile) ,, you can see where the painted chassis was sanded ,,on the inside,, to make a good ground,,tighten the board screws just a bit,,,,

I do know my GT 50 combo was loosing volume as well,,The tech replaced all the output jacks on the back of the amp with new ones ,,,

It could be cold/bad soilder joints ,,

Keep on aRockin',,,,,,

I have Electro Harmonix, I believe the origionals were chinese in origion, 12ax7's on the PreAmp side of my 50 watt combo and Sovtec's on the Power Amp side.

Cheers

when i turn the amp on, i turn it at about 2. it sounds ok. but i turn the volume to say 4, it sounds the same. that's strange. as for output tubes i'll try 6v6's, right? if it's using 34's, will it have to be re-biased for those tubes? the 6v6's. i just bought cliff jacks to replace the input jack it's plastic. thanks for everybodys advice. i'll keeps ya posted.

henryh,,,first thing i would do is try to find an owners manual or something to confirm what tubes go in that unit ,,, ,, 6v6's are not inter changable with any other tube,,,

Keep on aRockin,,,,,,

Henry

The Crate owners Manual for your Amp says the Power Tubes are EL34's, it olso suggests 6550's as a substitute.

hey guys.
i retubed it, and of some reason it works now!? the input jacks were a problem, i ran 22gauge wire from the board and right too the jack. and couple of re verb noises that must be conquered other than that she roars!!
that is the loudest fookin' amp i have.
