Hey,
My name is Jessica. I'm nineteen and in college right now. I feel a tad old for loving a show that is on the Disney channel so much, but I embrace it
I have to admit, I'm a new fan to Dasey. I started watching Life with Derek when the first season aired on the Disney Channel - I believe I was seventeen at the time. The first episode I remember seeing was "The Fall."
I liked the show, but honestly, parts of it bugged me. I found Casey a tad bit annoying, but felt like a lot of her actions were justified towards Derek. I just found him plain annoying. I have to admit though, I only continued to watch the show because I recognized Sam from Degrassi and thought that he was cute. My best friend thought Sam was cute as well. I swear, we watched "Male Code Blue" about five times together. Yes, I was a Sasey shipper.
I was extremely busy with school and a job, but I caught an episode here and there during the second season. I was saddened to discover Casey and Sam had broken up. I think I saw about half of the second season.
I got busy with college and a job and somewhere along the way, I forgot about the show. Sometime in December, I saw "A Very Derekus Christmas" on the Disney Channel and I was reminded of the show. I was searching for something on youtube and somehow, I stumbled across a Dasey video - it was called The Scientist-Dasey by Chinogal23.
I had heard of the ship before, but I was against it. I had many reasons, but it never because they were stepsiblings. Anyway, I found it a bit odd that I had just watched AVDC the day before and now was stumbling across a Dasey video. So I decided to watch it and the video contained scenes from "Make No Prom-ises" and immediately after watching it, I was curious about Dasey and absolutely had to see this episode.
I found the episode on youtube and watched it. I wasn't quite won over yet, but I think the next episode I watched was "Derek Un-Done." It was the end scene - I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about - where Derek and Casey are sitting apart from the rest of the family while George's band is playing. Derek asked what Max thought of the family and she responded with, "What's not to love?" There were no sharp comments from Derek, nor were there any from Casey. Just smiles. The looks they gave each other were too cute. I just found myself thinking of that scene in contrast to any scenes from the first or second season that I had watched.
I decided to rewatch the series from the beginning at that point. I saw Dasey in the first season where I hadn't seen it before. Watching the second and third seasons were pretty much firsts, but only solidified my love for Dasey. And Derek. How could I not have loved him before??
As much as I'd love to go on, I'm sure this is extremely boring for the rest of you. I looking forward to getting to talk to everyone!
Yeah, I was kinda annoyed by the show too because in the beginning I only saw Casey and derek's most annoying episodes like Sweet Misery and Babe Raider, so I didn't really see any dasey in it and became an anti, but then I started reading fanfiction and watching fan videos and became a obsessed freak. Though the season three and two episodes are pretty good on their own, Dasey really does make LWD better.
P.S. Welcome to dasey nation! You can call me Kat... _________________ "... I know that love is unconditional. But I also know that it can be unpredictable, unexpected, uncontrollable, unbearable and strangely easy to mistake for loathing."

Videos are awesome that way - they open your mind up to ships you hadn't even considered previously. I haven't read too many fanfictions, although I'm interesting in reading more. Any favorites? Or is there a section on here for favorites? I should go look into that...
Yeah, "Sweet Misery" "Babe Raider" and "Male Code Blue" were the next few episodes I had caught, although time had passed. I had maybe seen one episode between those, but I definitely missed (or didn't catch) any of the the shippy moments. "Male Code Blue" is arguably shippy, but I didn't think so based on the few episodes I had seen previously. Same with the second season.
Dasey is a wonderful thing huh? I had fun reading how you got into the show and the Dasey ship! I promise after being here, you'll only fall deeper into the Dasey hole. But it's alright! Cause we're all already there waiting for new people to join us! _________________
