My Crate Stealth's volume has been going down to almost nothing and then back up to full set volume ( master volume). Only after its been on for a bit.

Could it be the power tubes?

Welcome cigskillu,,,,

Not likely to be power tubes,,As it does ok till it gets good and hot sounds like,,,My GT combo chassis was doing that same thing when i first got it,,a tech replaced all the output jacks on the rear and fixed it right up.

I would suggest try cleaning the speaker output jacks with a tv/tuner/pot spray first,,do this using 1/4 inch plug and spraying it down good,,then running the plug in the jack several times ,,,,

Sometimes ,,the output jacks needs the spring clip on the inside tightened just a bit,,

If that don't fix it ,, I would have a qualified tech check the output jacks for cold solder joints and touch them up,,,,

As far as the power tubes go,,the power tubes should all have the same even very light glow at the tips and base ,,you should be able to see the inner parts of the tube,,if one tube is glowing a lot redder than the other three,,or has a blue tint inside,,its a bad tube,,,

hope this helps,,

Keep on aRockin,,,,

cleaning the jacks makes perfect sense. all of my fiddling had a leaning twards the cab and head connection. simple things sometimes just dont register :) But this is more of an experience thing. thnx man.

I just' bought this from a person who had it closet kept since the 90s. cosmetics are great, but theres alot of grime inside. duh...

i took basic electronics, no tech for me!
