I have owned my xlsc 500 for about 3 years, the group I play with affectionatly call it "the beast" partly because it weighs over 130lbs in the case, 96 without, and partly because it will blow the end out of a room. I am anxious to hear some stories from other owners. I brought this amp to a jam session after I first bought it, in a room full of marshall jcm and pevey evh full stacks it blew everyone away with its tone, I could have sold it on the spot, not very friggin likely. you know you have a sound when another guitarists hands you the ride on a song because YOU have the tone. I don't know the science behind the open closed speaker set up, or the thought behind 2 different speakers, but I know that the this is the best piece of gear I ever owned, and great exercise when you move it. my setup is an '87 strat plus maple neck fls gold pickups, and a gibson LP firebrand delux, t tops, zoom 9030 for what little processing I do, and Lee's active gain to boost the lead so I can keep the guitar volume opened up. the amp came with sov 6l6's but I switched to Mullard 6ac7's and like the tone better. thats all, and the sound will make other guitarists drool.

lees' gear will hang will so called boutique 4k-5k amps... the stealth sounds as good as a dual recto anyday. my vl 1002 WILL blow away any modded marshall david bray or mark cameron even a john suhr marshall. the m 1500 is what i want next.
