What do you think it really is?

Obviously he doesn't think too highly of him ex:Bully Brothers. In Make No Prom-ises he seemed like he was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt...but ...he still showed signs of jealousy or just flat out made fun of him.

Here's my Derek/Max theories in Make No Prom-ises. - they may seem a little far fetched but what the hay I'm gonna share them with you all anyway.

In one of the beginning scenes in the living room after Derek comes in and tells him to avoid the prom like the plague and when Casey and him go to leave for the mall - if you'll watch closely Derek's small smile slowly starts to fade away. He tells Casey there's no way she would catch him at that loser fest then says 'no...offense Max'. Maybe he regretted saying that halfway through the sentence due to his slight pause...hehe. Derek has always thought Max was a loser - I doubt his opinion has changed. When Max said 'none taken' the glare he gave Derek...oh geez...haha.

When he comes in behind Casey and sees her - he may spit out an insult (calling her return of the living bed-head) but however right before he's completely checking her out. Then he laughs at Max. A part which I really really love.

Then when Casey decides to not go - it seems Derek was in a hurry to get Max out of the house. Maybe he would rather not see Casey go at all - then to see her go with Max. And maybe that was why he seemed to be resistant to go back and get her because then it would be more of a 'damn now she's going to be at prom with Max again' instead of a 'well it does suck Casey's not here but at least she's not with Max either'.

When Masey won prom king and queen, Derek said absolutely nothing about the 'couple' winning. He only talked about Casey winning.

In my opinion - and through Derek's actions - it seems like no matter what Derek just really dislikes him. (which is actually that way with all Casey's boyfriends, but since this is the Derek and Max thread..)
And Derek gets sooooo jealous sometimes. It's just great!

I don't know, it's got to be my Dasey warped mind talking but hey.

Anyone else wanna get in on this?

Sometimes I get the feeling that the only reason Derek hasn't punched out Max is Casey. She seems to be in denial abou the whole and Derek secretly cares too much about her to put her boyfriend ina coma. Which would be awesome!

edit: ok watched it again, I can't explain his look when he said that thing about her being drama queen now prom queen but he had this smile on his face. oh he so loves her.

I LOVE your theory about Dereks thoughts of Max, obviously he thinks Casey is too good for him.

Are you by any chance goodtobeinlove on LJ, Steph? There was something that was written by that alias that sounded like what you wrote on Max.

Actually no it's not me!!! Wow...two Steph's who think alike! That's pretty cool. I'd like to read what she wrote, do you have the link?

I really do think he thinks that Casey's too good for him. Maybe he just feels like avoiding the headache of confronting Casey about it - either that or he thinks she wouldn't believe him, or ask a bunch of questions about why he thinks it...

By the way Steph it was on Jannika's Daseysnark. I don't think her name was Steph, she just said something about Derek not wanting to go to prom because he didn't want to see Max with Casey and that he stepped on her dress on purpose, and mentioned trying a one-shot at it. At the time it just reminded me of your theory.

Dasey fans think alike, or it could just the complete obvious-ness that Derek thinks Casey is too good for him so he tries to discreetly ruin her relationships in the hopes that she will be miserable with him and they can finally hug! Or kiss...whichever works best!

He totally does! I think the only reason he gave into Sasey was because he wanted to see his best friend happy and of course her. That's the only reason. He has a heart.

I definitely agree it still bothered him. You could hear the bitterness in his voice in WDMS when he was talking to Sam. "Remember how things turned out with your last girlfriend..what's her name again? ... yeah turned out to be a total time sucker"

Yeah haha poor Derek. All those times Sam and Casey were out together on dates...he's probably thinking... 'my best friend stole my girl...my girl stole my best friend...what am i supposed to do now?'
