I'm new-ish to the LwD fandom (late December) and I once before posted how I became a member of said fandom on Steph/jannika's LJ episode reviews, and because I'm lazy and I don't want to type it out again here's what I said:

Late December, right? And to me, Life with Derek is just some Canadian show that is a bit better than some of the other Disney Channel shows, and something I will watch if there's nothing better on and I have nothing else to do. So it has been since LwD came on air.

So, I had never even *thought* of Dasey as a possibility; it just didn't cross my mind. I had no outside influence in becoming a Dasey shipper, I was converted purely because of the chemistry. There I was, la-de-da, innocently watching the second half of SSB (I didn't catch the first half) when Derek put a hula-hoop over her and told her her force field had been activated. And my face was like o__0
Does he LIKE her or something? And then came Grade A Cheater. And the first thought that crossed my mind when she pushed him out of that game closet? "I think she's gonna kiss him. Or kill him".
And an era was born. ;) Being the writer, reader, and long time fanficcy person (I've been involved reading/writing fanfic since I was ten) that I am, I decided to drop by FF.N and see if there was a category for LwD. And, I thought, if I get inspired, I may have to write a Derek/Casey fic. But I was sure I was going to have to pepper it with warnings about stepcest and blah blah blah and most likely get flames.
Imagine my surprise when I found pretty much *all* the fics on there were Derek/Casey, there was a whole fandom devoted to Derek/Casey, and the whole thing actually had a name! I was thrilled and from that point on completely sucked in.
Whew. *wipes sweat from forehead* And now look at me! Obsessively checking this LJ page twenty times a day and with two Dasey fics up on FF.N *coughcheck'emoutcough*
So that's basically it. From "oh, LwD is a pretty good show that's on Disney occasionally; it's fun to laugh at their Canadian accents" to "omg Dasey is teh best thing evah".
I do have two Dasey (or not-so-much) fics on FF.N, one completed (and it seems to have gotten a lot of good feedback; but it's only my first Dasey fic so it's probably not quite as great as I like to think), and one WIP. Basically, I love Dasey, and what more is really necessary to say? (oh, besides the fact that I love to use smilies?)
Okay, non-LwD-related stuff about me...I love to write, and hope to be an author one day. I love to read. I love fan fiction (reading and writing). I have a great many fandoms, but my #1 will always be Harry Potter--yes, I'm a Pottermaniac or whatever you want to call it.
I'm also a huge shipper. Dasey, obviously. My OTP is Ron/Hermione. As a hopeless romantic, I ship way too many couples in way too many fandoms to name, so I shan't.
...Yeah, if I think of any more info I'll be sure to let y'all know, though if you're still reading this by now I admire your ability to not get bored even in circumstances that are practically begging you to (i.e. this post).
