So, basically, I'm sitting here sobbing my heart out because I just got finished watching The Notebook. However, when I was watching the movie, something dawned on me.
In a bizarre way, Allie and Noah reminded me of Derek and Casey. I mean, this was the basis of their relationship:
They fought.
They made out.
They fought.
They made out.
They fought.
They made out.
And towards the end of the movie when Allie was trying to decide who she should choose, this little argument (which I'm going to quote right off of IMBd), just... stood out in my mind for some reason.

Young Noah: So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, for ever, you and me, every day. Will you do something for me, please? Just picture your life for me? 30 years from now, 40 years from now? What's it look like? If it's with him, go. Go! I lost you once, I think I can do it again. If I thought that's what you really wanted. But don't you take the easy way out.
Young Allie: What easy way? There is no easy way, no matter what I do, somebody gets hurt.
Young Noah: Would you stop thinking about what everyone wants? Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want. What do YOU want? What do you WANT?
Young Allie: It's not that simple.
Young Noah: What... do... you... want? Whaddaya want?
Young Allie: I have to go now. |
That just... completely reminded me of Dasey and how Derek and Casey fight all the time and how, if they end up together, they probably WOULD fight 99.9% of the time but love each other despite all that.
You know?
So, basically, my question to you all is... are there any other movies/books/shows whose characters remind you of Derek and Casey?

That's funny that you mention it because I'm reading that Dasey fic that you recommended "Figuring out Family" and one chapter Casey and Lizzie were watching The Notebook and Lizzie actually commented on her favorite quote of the movie. That part!

I was thinking when I read that, hmm I don't remember that movie since it's been a long time but i'd like to hear that whole argument.

wow. I always thought Derek/Casey were like Allie/Noah. but this just made it stick out more. And when I was reading that quote, I wasn't pictureing Allie/Noah. I was pictureing Derek/Casey. You made my day with this.lol. I can't think of any other movies/shows that remind me of Dasey. I will definetly tell you if I do find one though.

That whole little conversation is totally Dasey related. I was watching The Notebook yesterday too. The whole movie I was thinking about how much they're like Derek and Casey.

It was a good movie to begin with, but now that's related to Dasey, that just pushed it over the top!

Remember, it doesn't necessarily have to be movies either. It can be anything, ranging from books to other TV shows... etc.

Okay, so there is this new show on the CW called "Life is Wild" about a integrated family (is that the right term) that moves to South Africa.....but the oldest boy reminds me of Derek in the way that he can sometimes be an insensitive jerk, but when it really matters he steps up and does the right thing....and the oldest girl reminds me of Casey because she is smart, involved in school activities, and very responsible. Although nothing has happened yet, I think that something may happen between them because of there age and there surroundings....but I dunno....i thought that I would puty that in here becuase that is what this topic is right? Anywyas....yeah....check it out....

I honestly don't like the show. In some way to me, it's kind of just like LWD, just with a different twist.
