Hello
Im planning to build a US Navy air base at Pearl Harbour diorama around 1939 soon, in 1/48, and going to place there a number of seaplanes and flying boats. So, I have a few questions about that, and hope, someone can help me there.
1) PBY-5 Catalina. Which squadrons were based @ Ford Island in 1939-40? Where do I find some color profiles and photos (preferrably yellow wings 1/48 Revell kit also has not-so-good engines, any resin replacements recommended?
2) Grumman Goose. I'd like to make a colorful aircraft which belonged to the Army, Wheeler Field. Would it be realistic to put it at Ford Island station (maybe came there for service, or messaging, or whatever)?
3) OS2U Kingfisher - Im also searching for the yellow-wings float-aircraft which would fit in a dio. I have a profile of a USS Mississippi shipboard aircraft (its also a decal option in a Monogram kit I own), but its shown on wheels there? I know that Kingfisher could be easily changed there, but thought a ship board observation aircraft would use floats?
