Hi!

So, I was watching 'Dinner Guest' a couple days ago (I love YouTube), and I noticed that, immediately after Dennis said, "I know I shouldn't have spent so much time talking with Derek, but, you know, it's guy talk, and it's so much easier than... this," Casey thought Derek called him back. I thought that was kind of odd. I don't see how she could've automatically thought that Derek talked to him, just because her Dad mentioned him. Unless she was hoping that he did something that he knew would mean a lot to her...?

Maybe there's something completely obvious, but I can't see it.

Any ideas?

Here's my view of that moment. Since Derek was the main person Dennis talked to during the dinner (and evening), Casey figured he had to be the one to call him.

Also, he was the only one to check on her after the dinner fiasco. Everybody else seemed too wrapped up in their own world.

I agree with what snoopy said - Derek was the one that checked on Casey in the kitchen and when he did she'd made the comment something like 'and if you would have just gone out with kendra like i said i might have actually spoken to him.'

So when Derek called her dad I'm sure he had to fill him in on what was going on to get him to come back.

I agree with snoopy and Steph. No seemed to notice how upset Casey was after the dinner, nor seemed to care except Derek. It would most likely for him to call Dennis back. Which just proves how much Derek loves her!

Probably had that inside 'vibe' thing going on. When you just get that feeling of what's happened...she ended up being right!
I'm convinced Derek and Casey have that connection in their mind...where the possibility of it being just anyone else other than each other is rare - and they usually know when it's someone else too! But Derek has been known to also knowingly assume Casey has said or done something - and be right on target as well.

I think it's also the fact that they just say each other for EVERYTHING. They're so consumed in each other lives that they just assume the other had something to do with whatever is going on. For example, Derek thought that Jamie had a crush on Casey when he told Derek his step-sister was weird. I mean really! Jamie probably never even said more than 5 words to Casey, yet Derek assumes that he has a crush on her.

I know!! ahaha. And there's something in "Crushing the Coach" as soon as Casey tells Paul she resolved an issue with a sibling, Paul's mind immediately goes to Derek. Cuz, DUH, he's the only one she ever talks about!!! ahaha

They're in love.... and denial. =] ahaha

Oh my god! So true! They're always thinking about each other. I kinda noticed and then kinda didn't. I knew it but it was like in the back of my dasey area of my brain. Haha.

And like whenever Casey subtly hints at something Derek related Paul catches on it immediately...CAUSE HE'S ALL SHE TALKS ABOUT! And in Middle Manic, all Derek wants to do is talk to Paul ABOUT CASEY! Eeeeeeeeeeeep! He's all, "Nice try but we're here to talk about Casey." His whole world seems to revolve around her and its so cute! Like in Adios Derek, her voice was in his mind.

Oh my goodness! They totally are in love and just don't see it. Hehe.
