Okay, here's another question. I'm not sure if I'm simply sheltered here in the land of cows and canola - also known as southern Alberta - but we don't have "prom." Our big thing is our "grad" night, with convocation in the morning and the dinner-Grand-March-dance in the evening.

Is this the same all across Canada, or are there provinces in which there actually is a "prom" every year? If we don't have "prom" in Canada, and LwD is set in Canada, is the reason for their junior prom episode only to make it more appealing to American viewers?

I live in Toronto and at my school we have Prom. But that's strictly for the seniors. Semi-formal is for everyone, although none of the freshmen go. So we have no junior prom but I'm not sure how it is in other schools...

This prom confuses me. We've decided that "Make No Prom-ises" falls under their junior year, I think, but I was rewatching Crushing the Coach and Scott says that the real reason they call Derek "Triple D" is because he took three girls to his junior prom??

^ "Make No Prom-ises" is quite confusing. Most schools have a junior/senior prom, but this doesn't work for LWD, because Derek and Casey are both sophomores.

I could understand if Casey just went because ... Max could be a junior. I mean, they never really specify. He has a car before Derek (or Casey) does (as implied by "Bully Brothers"), and he is football captain. It would also explain why he is never mentioned until "The Dating Game."

But when Emily, Sheldon, and Derek appear? It just doesn't work. Typically if an underclassman attends a junior/senior prom, they only do so because their date is in that grade.

*sighs* But yeah ... um, it's screwy due to the timeline.

okay, this is confusing and I agree with most things said so far.
Casey and Derek are in grade 10 so how come Derek goes to a junior prom? Casey is understandable if Max is older and she went as his date.
THe fact that they were only in grade 10 makes scott's comment insanely weird, how does a ninth grader or freshman, take 3 girls to a senior prom??

The LWD timeline doesn't make any sense to me but I believe that they wanted common tv themes in the show. THe prom, valentines, christmas, birthdays (all the kids birthday parties now), a play, and so many more common themes.
