I read this book titled "If We Kiss" by Rachel Veil quite awhile ago- It was a reccomendation from another Daseyer. Here is the summary:




As the story begins, without a word being spoken, ninth-grader Charlotte ("Charlie") is maneuvered into a French kiss by Kevin Lazarus. New to kissing, Charlie is impressed but foresees nothing but complications. Her best friend, Tess, is Kevin's girlfriend, and Kevin's father is dating Charlie's mother. Charlie keeps the kiss to herself, obsesses about it, and tries to forget it, and then, at a family ski trip (stepsibling status is only months away), Kevin kisses her again. What does it all mean? In Charlie's funny first-person voice (she is much funnier and more knowing than any ninth-grader on the planet), Vail ponders until, frankly, readers may tire of the question. Subplots, such as Charlie's moment (and it's only a moment) as a crusader for freedom of the press, barely make a dent in her Kevin-kiss fixation. There are some very appealing elements here, including the remarriage of a divorced parent. However, the story is at its best when Charlie must grapple with pursuing a crush and staying loyal to a friend--a situation that will resonate with Vail's many fans.


So basically the characters:

Kevin- Derek
Charlie- Casey (Hehe, two syllables- Ca-sey. Char-lie. Both beginning with C's)
Tess- Emily
Charlie's friend- Sam


I love the soon to be step brother/step sister action. I think this would help non-daseyers realize that it isn't weird at all. This book also has a lot of basic FF plots (Derek and Casey meeting and liking eachother BEFORE George/Nora ever met).

It's a pretty good book. Kinda slow at some parts, but dear lord- Once the soon to be step sibling thing factor was added in, I couldn't put it down. HAD to know what happened. Just a little warning- Ends Sasey :/

BUT I still can't get over the fact that this book fully supports Step sibling relationships. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

OH MY GOSH! This was me who talked about it! LOL. I just wanted some credit. Haha. IT IS AN AMAZING BOOK! I read this before dasey even came about...and I rooted for her and Kevin! So I liked stepsibs before dasey I suppose. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Haha.

I created a trailer kind of based on that book. It almost has the same plot line. On another FF board, and I thought it would be good for LWD. So I got their permission, and I am going to write the LWD verison called What if We Kiss.
