Found this interesting:
TORONTO - Three finalists have been chosen by a panel of jurors for this year's Shaw Rocket Prize recognizing the best in Canadian children's television.
Vying for the $50,000 prize this year:
-"Johnny Test," about the adventures of a fearless 11-year-old boy and his genetically engineered super dog and his genius twin sisters, from Cookie Jar Entertainment.
-"Life With Derek," a live-action comedy about a blended family of three girls and two boys thrown together in the same house when their parents marry, from Shaftesbury Films.
-"Roll Play," a preschool TV series featuring original puppets, from Sinking Ship Entertainment.
The winner will be announced April 30 in Toronto.
"The finalists represent exactly what the Shaw Rocket Prize is about - engaging, entertaining and positive programming for young Canadian children," Agnes Augustin, president of Shaw Rocket Fund, said in a news release.

Cool! Life with Derek just might win. The other's seem much littler, though and it says children, but I think there's a great shot. _________________

Ahhh LWD better win!! Seriously it's the best!
Of course, I can't really say that being as I haven't seen the other two.
But LWD is such a real relatable show hopefully it has the vote! _________________

What would winning it mean? 50,000? Money to make a new season? _________________

Or a movie perhaps? On location...so we can see natural light and such?
But I do hope LWD wins. _________________

Is there a place where we can vote for LWD or is it suppose to be a private selection? _________________

Concerning the voting committee, here's what I found:
NEW YORK, February 15: The Shaw Rocket Prize has named its three finalists for this year’s C$50,000 prize: Johnny Test, Life with Derek and Roll Play, with the winner to be announced April 30 in Toronto.
The Shaw Rocket Prize recognizes the year’s best Canadian television programming targeted at kids aged 12 and under. An international jury of industry experts in children’s television and media selected the finalists, and the winner will be decided by a 700-member national student jury, comprised of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders.

3rd, 4th and 5th graders? Uh oh, that doesn't look good for LWD, since most of the fanbase are teenagers. Well, who knows, maybe it'll be a bunch of mature 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. That definitely rules out roll play though, since thats for preschoolers. I've never seen Johnny Test so I can't say how popular it might be, but Teletoon, family channel's rival, plays it a lot, so it might actually win... _________________

"Role Play" is probably out of the picture, honestly. I don't see 3rd, 4th and 5th graders watching a pre-schooler show, and if they do, they probably aren't going to admit it. So that leaves LWD and "Johnny Test."
3rd graders are in the 8/9 age range, 4th graders are in the 9/10 age range, and 5th graders are in the 10/11 age range depending on birthdays, and if I did all the math right.
I think JT is going to get some/most of the 10/11 year old vote because of the character's age, but then again, they are the oldest group and might enjoy LWD more. Plus, isn't LWD Family's most watch show? It'll probably be close.
I love how I'm trying to figure all this out. _________________ because maybe, you're gonna be the one who saves me.

I think that LWD will have most 5th graders votes...
I've never seen Johnny Test but it might have a chance on beating LWD. _________________

UPDATE: LWD has won the Shaw Rocket Prize for the best Canadian children's program!
*throws confetti around*
'Life With Derek' wins kids TV prize
By THE CANADIAN PRESS
TORONTO - The TV series "Life with Derek" has won the Shaw Rocket Prize for best Canadian children's program.
The show - a half-hour comedy about a blended family that's forced together two wilful teenagers - took the $50,000 prize at a ceremony held Wednesday night in Toronto. The prize recognizes the best show for children aged 12 and younger and is voted on by nearly 700 students in Grades 4, 5 and 6.
"Life with Derek," along with "Johnny Test" and "Roll Play," were three finalists chosen by an international panel of TV industry insiders.
The live-action series, produced by Toronto's Shaftesbury Films, airs on The Family Channel in Canada and in 140 countries worldwide.
"There's something about 'Life With Derek' that feels very real," Shaftesbury's Christina Jennings said Wednesday.
"In a world where children are adopted and families have broken and there are blended families - it's their world, and it feels real. We are just so proud of it because it's not only a hit in this country, it's a hit around the world."
Ashley Leggat, who plays Casey in the show, agrees.
"When we started, I don't think anybody thought it was going to do as well as it's done. It's insane. I never expected that in a million years," she said.
"But there are so many kids going through the same situation and it's not sugar-coated; we don't pretend to be one big happy family where everyone gets along all the time. These are real problems that real kids face every day."
"I really liked 'Life with Derek' because the story was clear and balanced," said one student juror. "The lighting and camera were perfect, I think the house they chose was perfect. The camera movement was awesome and the music was great!"

Yay, that's great.
Maybe the money will go to making TWO movies?
Can't wait!
BTW: Camera movement? Don't dasey shippers always comments on the dasey prone camera shots? I'm getting a feeling this kid is a dasey shipper, which is, of course, awesome . _________________
