Does anybody remember that DCOM from 2002 starring Shia LaBeouf as a mentally disabled teen?
After seeing Indy 4 today, for some bizarre reason I was reminded of that movie so I immediately went over to Old Faithful (AKA: YouTube, lol) and looked it up, and I watched the library scene again and even though it was only five minutes, I was crying by the time it was over.
Remember the good old days of Disney, with So Weird and amazing DCOMs like this and Color of Friendship? Now they have Jump In! and HSM and Camp Rock... ugh. It's just depressing that they think kids are that mindless. Of course, with all this entertainment they are probably turning mindless.
Discuss: Downfall of Disney and your opinion on Tru Confessions
TV is progressively getting worse and worse. It started with Nickelodean and now it's basically spreading to EVERYTHING. There's really nothing good on anymore and it's annoying. Tru Confessions was the first I'd ever seen of Shia LaBeouf. Arguably the entire reason why I looked him up and found more of his movies and have since been following his career to this day. (Seen every single movie he's been in. )
But yeah, I totally get what you mean. Sadly I doubt it will ever get better. Only worse.
Well I actually like movies from back then and today so I don't know. I guess I have low expectations or something. _________________ Artemus: Plush, Mr. Pudding.

I first saw him in "Even Stevens", but I didn't start following his career - for lack of a better term, hehe. I'm not stalking him or anything - until "Holes", which was an amazing movie (and book) by the way. He was great in "Bobby" and "Disturbia" as well. _________________ Soul x Maka: My [anime] OTP -- /Never has an unoffical pairing been so blatantly obvious. They're soulmates, I tell you!/
I love almost everything Shia is in...he's awesome.
Anyways, TV and movies really have gone to poop.
1. Lack of creativity.
2. Lack of original ideas (too many remakes)
3. Aimed for people who A. have no brains. B. are ignorant. C. Don't like to use their brains. D. find gross things humorous...like really gross that its pointless gross. E. Us which are thought to be brainless twits. we're not.
If I ever get into the video/writing business as I wish to, I will try and bring good shows like LWD to the television...not a bunch load of BS. Like HSM...*shudders* _________________ Underneath all of my names...I'm still one person: Julie
I probably really became a fan of Shia LaBeouf after Disturbia (And the SNL he hosted around the time Disturbia came out).
Disturbia is actually my favorite movie of all time. Like my mom said, it was just basically...perfect. There were no flaws; the acting was good, the writing was good, the plot was solid, there wasn't any hole that made it go down in value for me.
Because there are definitely movies that I feel more passionate about, but there's still something about them that doesn't work with the movie. I've never found anything I didn't like about Disturbia.
But enough about that. Anyway, I think TV's starting its downfall, though I have to say, I'm definitely a fan of the movie theatre movies these days. I'm not exactly a movie major or anything, because I enjoy TV much more since there's more room for character development, but half of my top 20 favorite movies are from 2007 and 2008.
Whereas TV is still continuing shows that need to get dead and stay dead, like CSI, Law & Order, and ER. (And Grey's Anatomy, but that hasn't been on as long and I just really hate it.) And THEN they just canceled Aliens in America, which is probably one of the most genius shows this year. Of course, it told the truth about Americans and our prejudices, and poked fun at us, and people would apparently rather watch shows like Farmer Wants a Wife. (gag) _________________

lol! I just got back from seeing Indy 4!
I agree TV is is falling fast. Networks seem too think we're all either mentally retarded or 7 year old boys or over sexed teenagers. And When good shows do come out *coughlifewithderek, supernatural, reapercough* they try to ignore it. They don't avertise, they give it a bad time slot, etc, etc.
the greatest example of this i think is Firefly.
Just like when NBC took Boomtown off the air after like, the 4th show of the second season. If any of you have ever heard of Boomtown, I seriously suggest you either find a place to watch it or buy the DVD. (Only 10 bucks)
It's literally one of the greatest.. anything's I've ever watched in my life. So good.
Also, I agree with all of the Disturbia comments. It's seriously almost a perfect movie. It's humorous, has a really good story, the acting isn't stiff and script read word for word, entertaining, fun, I dunno. Just a great movie. I guess it just got bad reviews because it kinda stole the idea from Rear Window.

Okay, now although I do like movies from today and back in the day, I still don't find gross things funny. Just putting that out there. _________________ Artemus: Plush, Mr. Pudding.

Firefly was AMAZING! I saw Serenity three times in the theatres. My parents and I are going to rewatch the series this summer. That was a great show.

See, I never understood that whole thing. Nobody involved in the movie ever said it was an original plot. They said outright that it was an adaptation of Rear Window. When Shia was doing an interview on late night, he was asked about it and he said that it's based off Rear Window, so of course there's going to be similarities. It's always bugged me about how people attacked it because of that, since it's kind of a pointless argument.
Another show that got canceled even though it was one of the few intelligent mystery shows left on television was Veronica Mars. Sigh. The only other show I can think of that was canceled really early and I loved was Life is Wild, and it only had 13 episodes. Of course, I think it worked better as a mini-series. It probably would have just gone downhill anyway.
Oh, and Arrested Development. I've never seen it, but I've always wanted to. My sister's in love with it.
Ugh, and this is slightly random: Pushing Daisies is way overrated. It's completely overshadowing Chuck, which I'm still really happy is coming back for a second season even if the first season was only 13 episodes. Oh, and they renewed Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. And The Big Bang Theory. I'm so happy for these shows. Overall, with the exception of Aliens in America, I have to say the networks actually did a pretty good job with the shows that they chose to come back. If only the kids networks like Nickelodeon and Disney would smarten up. Now that Ned's is gone, Nick is complete trash.
I watch wayyy too much television, lol. _________________
I am not saying all movies are bad now. There are plenty I love. But there have been some stinkers lately. I really liked Disturbia as well. Most Shia movies are good.
Hmm...my friend saw Indy 4 and she said she didn't think Shia fit the role. She said he acted fine its just not a good role for him. *shrugs* I'd have to see it.
Anyways, don't get me wrong, there are plenty of good movies out there. Just some things are blech. Like Date Movie (saw two seconds of it on HBO and hated it)...things like that. Others have been good.
I really wanna see that Get Smart movie...heh. Steve Carell(sp?) is awesome. OOH! Little Miss Sunshine was a great movie. I loved that movie...rofl at the end when they were all dancing. Anyways, I've learned to appareciate movies now...after video class. Learning how hard it is and how much you have to think about.
As you're watching a show, one scene probably has 3 to 5 different close ups and cut shots but no one really notices. You don't think about it. KUDOS TO ALL THOSE EDITORS OUT THERE. Plus, I love catching continuity errors. Heh. Even if its as simple as a placement of a bracelet. I just go, "Haha...caught that." Hmm...I am straying from topic. Stinkin rant. _________________ Underneath all of my names...I'm still one person: Julie
^ I might have trouble seeing "Get Smart," but maybe it will surprise me. I watched the original series when I was younger and enjoyed it quite a bit.
I'm a horrible judge of recent television, seeing as I never watch any of the main stations. I do watch "Ghost Whisperer," but that's about it, unless you count my random "Cold Case" and "Without a Trace" watches. (This is like once every 3 months.) But most of network television is trash now. It's mainly reality shows and game shows. And those get old quite fast.
Most of my favorite shows have been canceled. I loved "Ned's Declassified," "Drake and Josh," and "Reba." I'm also a big fan of 80s sitcoms like "Family Ties," "Growing Pains," and "The Facts of Life." I also can't forget "The Wonder Years." That's good stuff.
To get back on topic, "Tru Confessions" was a wonderful movie. It definitely made me a Shia fan. I hate how Disney shoves it under the rug with "The Color of Friendship." :x _________________
Ahh. My parents saw the show. They think Steve is a good man for the character. Although, my mom said they casted Anne Hathaway's character wrong..she looks too young.
Anyways, it really has. There's only one reality show I like and that's Big Brother but mainly, its all stupid. Sometimes, its probably even rigged.
I randomly watch those shows too. ROFL. Me and my mom really only like to watch CSI: Miami to make fun of that one dude. His cheesy lines and the way his head is always cocked to the side.
I LOOVED all those shows too. Except for the 80s ones. Well...Growing Pains I liked. OOh, I got into the Bewitched series before. I love that show. Hmmm...I don't think they play reruns of it anymore. *sigh* Wasn't it made in the 60s? *shrugs*
Anyways, I never saw Tru Confessions or if I have I can't remember. Also, Color of Friendship was a great movie as well. Why can't there be more of those? Yeah, a few movies for pure entertainment are needed here and there but gah...constant stinkers. lol. How about something meaningful every once in awhile? _________________ Underneath all of my names...I'm still one person: Julie
