I really don't think Dasey will happen. I walked into shipping them knowing that it was going to never happen, but they just had too much chemistry to resist. And it wasn't just their chemistry, but growth of the of the characters since season one. There is too much stuff that points to a not a very brotherly and sisterly relationship - step or not.
I would prefer both Derek and Casey to be single by the end of the show, but if it had to happen... I would want Casey with Noel. I think they have a lot in common, but not too much in common. It wouldn't come to the point where Casey would lose herself again. I really think he'd be there for her, unlike Max who got pissed over really stupid things, in my opinion. He always expected Casey to be there for him, but he was hardly ever there for her. It seemed like he only did it because he had to... or just because he had nothing better to do.
I kind of just plain want Derek to be single. I REALLY don't want him to get with Sally, just because Derek always seems to get what he wants. And for once, I want him to fail. I don't hate Sally. It's Kate Todd - I can't hate her. I will admit to liking Kendra though... if Derek was going to end up with someone, she is probably the one person I wouldn't mind.
And as much as I would love it if they made a show of LWD: The College Years, I don't think they would do it.

Interpretation is in the eyes and ears of the recipient. Without a formal declaration of "Derek, I like you," and "Casey, I like you, we should date" anything else that happens is subtext that can be read any way we want it to.
I would love Dasey to happen but I'm realistic as well. As this is a family/kid show it's unlikely they'll formally take that route, no matter what they've done so far because everything they've done so far can be interpreted in at least two ways. Yes, everything is done with a purpose but perhaps not the purpose we are interpreting.
I'm just saying.
So I vote that in the likely event that it doesn't happen in the series with them ending up together then they both end up single. But even if they don't, they're only in high school. They've got years to come to the realization of what they really feel and still hook up later. In which case it might be more accepted as they are no longer living in the same house.

I still think a line such as 'You know, it's a shame you're my step-sister, because....*insert Derek explaining his feelings for her*. Or vice versa.
You all make great points though. _________________

Exactly, A.L. - that's how I feel. And Steph, we may get a variation of an "I like you" but it most definitely would be able to be taken as platonic OR romantic. So us Dasey shippers can think what we want, and the antis can think what they want.
I like that there are so many different opinions on this! _________________

I think single-dom for both Casey and Derek could allow us Dasey-ers to think up more adventures with our minds.
I definitely wouldn't want Sally to be with Derek. I would feel like all his growth was nothing. As much as I like Noel I'd love for his relationship to stay platonic with Casey. I think they would make such great friends. _________________

I voted for them both to be single. Just because...that would be the perfect way to end it IF they don't end up together. In my opinion. _________________

I personally don't think that Derek and Casey will get together before the series ends. Actually, I don't want them to. I don't want them to get together until college, but unfortunately the show won't be on for that long unless there is a spinoff or a couple of Movies of the Week like you guys mentioned before.
So as for who I want them to be with when the series ends... well, I'd like Derek to be with Kendra (I thought Kendra was awesome, and also... that relationship probably wouldn't last long. Especially if they ended up going to separate universities). And for Casey, as weird and different as these two choices are, I'd like to see her with Trevor (yes, he was only in one episode, but I don't care. I think he needs to come back... plus, he saw the Dasey so it could all be a plot) or Ralph. |

I think a spin off is pretty plausible, sucessful shows usually have them, and it would totally solve the step sibs problem because since it's about life in college, it wouldn't be aimed at teeny boppers. So even if we can't get our dasey fix in Life With Derek, we could in College With Derek, or whatever the spinoff would be named. The producers are aware of the fanbase, and even though they might not be able to give us dasey stright away, I'm convinced they'll deliver it to us one way or another, unless they want their mailboxes to be filled with hatemail... |

Hee. Like we all haven't written fanfics with a line like this at some point or another. But it'd be awesome to see it actually on screen. |

I would looove to see Ralph/Casey if Dasey didn't happen. And then maybe Derek getting back with Kendra. Dendra was way too short, IMO. Kendra is made of win, so I would love to have her back.
I have a whole plan of how I'd like the series to end now, lol. Ralph and Casey would get together (Don't ask me how that'd happen), and then Derek would find out and he'd have this totally obvious jealous look on his face. Then it'd end with the family dinner and Derek staring at Casey because he finally realized something. (That something that will be found out in the movie, not that you don't already know, lol.)
And then Dasey gets together in the movie.
Though I'd LOVE to see Dasey happen in the show, I'm predicting it will happen in the movie. Why? Because movies are classified as spin-offs, and spin-offs allow a lot more leg-room than the actual show. _________________

You all never cease to rock my socks!
Seriously, some of the ideas you guys throw out are just so so so so good that it literally brightens my day.
Theres a few I want to touch on....
1) If they didnt end up together(IF IF IF IF) I would also like to see some Demily. Though they dont hold a candle to my Dasey affections, its the closest thing to the real deal(IMHO)
2) Yes, a line like Miranda's would be wonderful. But to only give us THAT after all the hopes and wishes we've thrust upon this relationship, kinda seems a bit cruel in and of itself.....because... THINGS CAN BE DIFFERENT...Which brings me to.....
3)A potential spin off. While maybe unlikely, I'm not sure it's because it can't be done. Take Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide for example. A show based in early junior high. On Devon's(who plays Ned, for those 2 of you out there that haven't seen it) blog he says he signed a deal with Nickelodeon to develop Ned's Declassified HIGH school survival guide. Obviously geared at an older demographic. And while it's not set in stone YET, it looks very very possible. So why not LWD?
As mentioned
College Life With Derek is kinda catchy. |
