I found this photo in a junk shop in Brighton. The plane appears to be a Short Solent. The photo may or may not have been connected with some pictures of India in the same basket.

Any ideas on the location? I thought maybe the Balearic Islands. Someone else has suggested the Pacific.

Hmm - interesting.

Hard to tell. I have a few pics of Solents at Madeira but they are all from seaward looking to the land. Even then though, they don't seem to fit this pic, so I'm tempted to rule that out.

Can you get any more detail to ID the aircraft by scanning just the aircraft at hi res? I'm not sure you'd get the serial but if there is a BOAC "Speedbird" logo on the nose it might show. Otherwise, it is likely to be Aquila Airways.

BOAC would fit the India connection.

Hello. Sorry for the delay in replying. I managed to disable my account but Bryan has now fixed it for me Smile

I tried rescanning it but that's as large as I can get the image. The original print is very small.
