I swear this topic was already created, but since I didn't see one, I had to create one because I just saw one of the best movies ever: Smart People.

(Warning: I don't give anything major away, but I might give plot points away that you might want to wait until the movie to see if you like the element of surprise.)

So, the whole Dennis Quaid/Sarah Jessica Parker thing was beyond weird. I know they were the stars, but I was sick of them halfway through the movie.

It was Thomas Haden Church and Ellen Page who stole the show. It just goes to show that if you go to a movie expecting nothing, you get something. (I literally had no idea what this movie was about.)

Ever since Juno and Saturday Night Live, I haven't liked Ellen Page as an actress, but this movie won me over.

Like my mom said, it really says something when Thomas Haden Church and Ellen Page have more chemistry than Dennis Quaid and Sarah Jessica Parker.

I mean, nobody would ship those two as a couple, but the tension and chemistry was what sold them. That look Church's character has when he's telling her they're just friends? Guh, I died. (I think this wins out as the weirdest pairing ever that I've enjoyed. I mean, major age difference and the fact that he's her adopted uncle equals slight weirdness.)

But yes, I totally recommend this movie. There's so much I'd lo-ove to rant about, but it would definitely give away a lot of the movie, and I won't do that.

I also must say I enjoyed Page's character and her brother's banter. I wish the brother was in it more. Especially when he was telling her how he saw her and Chuck (Church) at the bar, and he had this knowing look..Guh, but I've said too much. I should just stop talking.

I'm also in the middle of watching Art School Confidential (with the most adorable lead EVER) and The Darjeeling Limited, but I haven't finished them yet.

I saw Iron Man a couple weeks ago, and I've been wanting to see it again for a long time. It was absolutely amazing. It's probably the best superhero movie I've ever seen. And it helps that I'm the biggest fan ever of Robert Downey Jr. He is just made of amazing. It's probably one of my favorite movies.

The other movie I last saw was What Happens in Vegas... which despite what the critics are saying, is an amazing romcom, IMO. Maybe it's because of my love for love/hate, or my love for Ashton Kutcher, or both, but it was really unique and absolutely hysterical. My parents liked it too, so I know I'm not completely delusional(sp?). The ending was lacking, though, and me and my mom had the exaact same idea about how we thought it was going to end, lol. But it didn't turn out that way. The beginning and middle is way too amazing to pass up the entire movie, though. So I recommend it.

I saw "Step Brothers" last week, I'm hoping to see "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" on Monday then hopefully "Tropic Thunder" on Wednesday.

I want to see Tropic Thunder so freaking bad. I had a big happy fit when I saw Robert Downey Jr., Ben Stiller, and Jack Black were on the Entertainment Weekly cover, lol. I'm downloading the E! Tropic Thunder special right now, actually, haha. (And I'm going to the mall tomorrow, and I'm getting a Tropic Thunder shirt from Hot Topic. This movie better not suck, or else I'm screwed, haha.)

I probably won't be able to see TT until the weekend, though. =/

Anyway, just to add to the thread, the last movies I saw in theatres were Mamma Mia! (bad, bad, bad movie) and The Dark Knight (which I got mega obsessed with. :'DD In fact, my three friends and I all bought Joker posters. My friend already put hers up in her room, and he's staring at me, hahaha. But I don't mind.)

And last night, we just watched three and a half movies: Zodiac (which I already need to watch again because there's sooo much stuff I didn't catch. But watching Robert Downey Jr. and Jake Gyllenhaal made it all worth it. ; DDD), Brokeback Mountain (which I was sobbing at the end of, partly because of the ending and partly because of Heath. DD: He was just so pretty, and such a good actor. Guhh, if he doesn't win an Oscar this year... -shakes fist-), One Missed Call (I fell asleep within the first ten minutes, and when I woke up my friends were ranting about how terrible it was, so I'm PRETTY sure it wasn't good, rofl), AND half of Death at a Funeral (I already saw it once; it's my favorite movies, but we were all really tired so we just fell asleep. xD)

The last movie I saw at all, I think, was The Dark Knight. It was pretty darn good, but I don't get the insane repeat viewings. Of course, I also saw Titanic in the theater 7 times back in the day, and I don't really get why I did that now, lol.

And now I'm sitting down for Welcome to the Dollhouse, one of my favorite movies ever. Smile

OK you just sold me on this movie I so want to see it now.

I loved Mamma Mia but I really have a secret guilty pleasure love of Abba and I totally think Colin Firth is the hotness. Embarassed Laughing
