I don't know if this has been asked before but I can't find any information on it. Does anyone know why in the first season the entire entryway inside the house and stairs are different than in later seasons. There was a whole other room next to the stairs before and now theres just a wall. I can see them opening up the room and making more space, but getting rid of an entire room seems a little unrealistic. I noticed the other room mainly in the wedding episode, and now they just have a green wall there. Has enyone else noticed this or am I just crazy?

The instant I read this I went straight to the television and onto my trusty DVR to compare season 1 to season 2-3, lol.
But I never noticed that! I mean, I noticed in season 1 that they almost always went through the back room instead of the kitchen walkway, but I didn't even notice that the space had just disappeared.
I always thought the living room looked smaller. I mean, the wall on the stairs in season 2-3 is even with the rest of the wall on that side of the living room, and the stairs don't have the three-way thing going on anymore.
That's going to bug me forever now. I always liked the little walk-way. That whole space is going to look tiny to me.

Most likely, the set changed when they moved from Newfoundland to Toronto. That's why the school setting changed as well. In the first season, they filmed in an actual school. Once they moved to Toronto, they just built a school set.

That's exactly why it's different. If you notice in most shows usually the first episode's sets are either slightly or completely different than in later episodes. This is because pilots are usually filmed on borrowed sets, then once the show is greenlit, they are given money to build their own set. With LWD, they filmed a pilot SEASON instead of just an episode, therefore their entire first season was filmed on borrowed sets.
The borrowed and 'owned' sets can be different for various reasons, but I think the most popular reason is that the producer, director, WHOEVER didn't like the way the borrowed set filmed, either for esthetic purposes or positioning for the cameras.

Probably true. I don't understand the getting rid of the space behind the stairs was gotten rid of but the school makes sense. In the first season, it was sooo bland! Especially after taking my video class, it must have been a nightmare to film there. LOL. The set school is much more pleasing to the eyes.
I do miss that space though...in the house. I always liked that. *shrugs* I don't know why.
*goes back to reading Eclipse* I love it and I got a competition to win. lol.

Yeah, I always noticed that space too, but in season two Derek runs in that direction when he feels sick (episode: Freaked Out Friday) so I'm still a little confused

yeah. i've noticed that for a while now.
they have a completely different school setting from Season 1.
and now in Season 4 they changes Casey's room, the wall colors and stuff.
strange...

Yeah, I noticed that too! I don't know why they changed her room though! It's the same set! *shrugs* maybe they just wanted to make it more like casey (change her room when she got bored, i seriously don't know)
