I think all the actors have specific words that accentuate their accents. But I do agree that "sorry" always stands out with Mike. Ashley's accent comes out whenever she says words like "tomorrow" and such.

Both my brother and I have accidentally said "sorry" Canadian-style at times. It's random, but it goes to show how the show has affected my speech.

But again, my Canadian taste in shows is starting to show. I mentioned "ReGenesis" in my Educational Psychology class today. I described the basis of the show, and the two girls I was talking to seemed quite interested!

lmao, in Grade-point: Adverage, Derek is talking to marti about her stuffed cow and says swizzle.

Now everytime something is cool I say Swizzle... it's quite interesting to see the reaction on people's face when they hear you say swizzle lol.

Hmm... I was re-reading some posts when I noticed a lot of people mentioned that Canadians have accents when we say certain words.

I must be a terrible Canadian because I've never once noticed this at all, lol.

same.. the only thing I catch myself saying a lot is eh. It's at the end of like every sentance.. but besides that i don't notice an accent lol. That is pretty sad haha.

^ I say "eh" every once in a while... not as much as a lot of people make it out to seem that ALL Canadians say it, but it does slip out. I try to be conscious of it so I don't say it because I want to break the stereotype.

For example, over Christmas, my cousin came down from the States and we were just chillin' in my room when he decided to call his girlfriend to see what she was up to. Then he told her where he was and asked her if she wanted to say hi to me or something, so he covers the mouth piece and tells me to say "eh" at the end of the sentence and I was like, "Why would I do that?" and he was like, "Because I told her that Canadians say that." and I was like, "Uh... no."

At least I'm not alone! I watch American shows but have never noticed the difference! Isn't that sad?

I agree with this. I never really realized that I and my fellow Canadians have accents that differ from Americans. For me, though, I have noticed that sometimes I pronounce words with a British-y accent. But that may have more to due with the fact that I'm 1/3 British Very Happy

Anyways, I've picked up some LwD things too! In fact, a few weeks ago I was debating about making a new topic like this.

I've picked up, "Keener", too. I said it to my sister once and she was like, "WHAT? What does that mean?" and I just started laughing.

I also picked up a lot of things from Derek. Like, Mike's hand movements and the random noises he makes. I found myself doing a lot of those things, then I'd just start laughing and whoever I was with would think I was insane.

It's fun ;)

I do some of the hand movements unconsciously... but I've been doing those since BEFORE LWD, so... Razz

I use the word keener sometimes and I often refer to myself as 'Klutzilla'. But I am a HUGE klutz. Last week, or the week before, I was walking into everything in my house. I walked into the wall and then both couches but the sad thing is that is was all in the same half hour. Being that its the house I've lived in since I was six it was really sad. My mom asked me if I was drunk, which totally shocked me but she was joking because she knows that I don't drink.

I'm so bad with the word 'eh'. I use it sometimes and I have no idea why. I do hate watching certain american television that uses 'eh' as a Canadian stereotype and I hate that I sometimes help support the it.

^ My substitute teacher called me a keener the other day. It was... awkward, to say the least. Like, it wasn't DIRECT, but basically, me and my friends were the only ones actually doing our assignment (the rest of the class was just talking/gossiping about other things that were completely irrelevent to the subject) and my friends finished 10 minutes early so she told them to go to the library and hang out there until class ended, and when I handed in my assignment, I asked her what I was supposed to do next and she was just like, "Well... you could either stay HERE and try to do your review... or you can go to the library with the rest of the keeners."

I'm pretty sure she was kidding around, but... it threw me off guard because I'd only ever heard it on LWD. So... now I'm convinced that she watches it, haha.

The other day I walked into my air hockey table and now I have this huge bruise on my leg. My parents were teasing me for being so clumsy and I said I'm sorry I'm like "Klutzilla" and my mom repeated "Klutzilla" and started laughing.

haha. Yeah, I know what its like being klutzy, my first day of high school (in grade 9) I tripped infront of a bunch of people. It was bad but not many people noticed, which is weird. And my second day of grade 10 (so this year) I was going to be late for my bus and I had just had gym so I was running from the changeroom and I tripped and my clothes (and me) went flying. Nobody else was out of the changeroom yet but I was like "Nice going, Klutzilla" to myself.

Yeah, I was surprised too! I can't tell the difference in accents from the states at all..... well mostly. I have to watch more American shows and then watch an epi of LWD. Maybe I'll hear the difference.
