AN: Ok...I was sitting here completely bored and suddenly just felt like writing something..so since my computer is being mean I decided I just better write it in my notebook. It's not really anything. Just something short and simple. Hope you like it. Btw, its in Casey's POV...it'll be obvious as you read.

Derek Venturi was a sweet guy. This was fact. Technically, this was subjective but to me it was true. I couldn't help the grin growing on my face. He was sitting on his chair with Marti on his lap. The three of us were playing a game of Scrabble earlier and near the end Marti hurt herself.

A simple paper cut. But it had her crying in seconds. In a matter of moments, big brother Derek came to the rescue. He calmed her and did anything a big brother should do. Make it all better. Make her feel protected and safe.

I sat still- happily forgotten. Soon, they both fell asleep and now I was sitting in silence. I felt the tears begging to be shed while I thought about the sweet things he's done for me in the past.

Calling my dad after I cried my heart out to him. That had to be the sweetest thing anyone had ever done for me. And to think Derek was the one to do it.

Obnoxious. Player. Schemer. Annoying. Frustrating. And yet, the sweetest 16 year old boy I had ever met.

My throat felt like it was closing and I let out a small gasp. The erratic breathing around him...the thumping of my heart all made sense now. The flips in my stomach were not from feeling sick like I had thought.

I was in love.

In love.

With Derek. Derek Venturi.

"I'm in love with Derek Venturi," I whispered to myself. I glanced up to double check he was asleep. His eyes were closed. Good. I sighed. "I need to sort my thoughts in my diary," I mumbled before rushing up the stairs.

If I wasn't in such a rush to leave I might have seen the grin on Derek's face and the pink on his cheeks. But I didn't.
