It's a cross between two feelings. 1) I've set the challenge so it's only fair that I try to come up with at least something! 2) To be absolutely honest, having a go myself is something that becomes very hard to resist, eventually. This offering is moderately rude and in a way I found that approach more satisfying than going for out-and-out wickedness.

A right plonker standing outside small church in Rhode Island? (3,6)

A + R + TOOL = "a right plonker" outside S + CH. "Rhode Island" is a well-known art school somewhere in the US. Rhode Island way, I believe.

OK, so this isn't terribly blue but a) I have shoe-horned in a swear word of sorts and b) it's my first stab at an &Lit and I figured here was a safer place to experiment than the main COW DIY page.

What initially comes across as clumsy reading is in fact just the kind of nonsense you'd expect from the Emins/Hirsts etc of the art world, so it fits in very nicely indeed. Nice one George - and now it's your turn to issue the challenge as we're adopting the "winner stays on" principle.

While we're waiting for George to decide on his word here's a clue I came up with for INANIMATE in the regular COD comp that might be a tad risque for that audience:

Lifted skirt about middle of flanks and munched without moving (9)

(fl)AN(ks) in MINI rev + ATE

Clue probably needs to go down (fnaar) given the "lifted" bit.
