Here are the Ninja ranks you can have and how to get them (they go from worst to better):
Missing Nin- If you dont show up for a couple of days you get the missing nin stat and you need to post something to get your rank back
Academy Student- you start out as one
Genin- You got 30 posts
Chunin- Beat the chunin exams or on a special time when me or orochimaru are amazed by your skills and say you need to raise up (this doesnt happen often and ont ask will tell you)
Jonin- Same with Chunin(except without and exam)
Tokubetsu Jonin- If you specialize in something while at Jonin level me or Orochimaru might make you a Tokubetsu Jonin (ex. an examiner)
Sannin- Same with Chunin and Jonin
Kage- If you are a Jonin or above and there is an open kage position you can ask to take a test and maybe become a Kage.
