I was quite surprised to get the nod for #006, so many thanks to 7dNigePun for that.
And here we are with a fresh challenge. Please offer your Timesy clues (with explanations where appropriate) for:

Brilliant! I can imagine this one attracting some interesting interpretations of marriage. Which is why I chose it actually. He-he-he. _________________ Start every day with a smile and get it over with. |

Surprisingly the invitation to exploit twisted irony (or whatever!) in MARRIAGE didn't get as many responses as I imagined, but not to worry. While there were some good entries I'm not even going to start with a 1-2-3 this time, simply because penfold's opening gambit was brilliant:
Way to spoil relationship at the outset before I get old? (8)
Meticulously constructed, utterly convincing - definitely one of those "wish I'd thought of that" clues. Absolutely top class. Penfold, we now await your instructions... _________________ Start every day with a smile and get it over with. |

Thank you so much. As that was only my second ever &Lit/double whammy clue I'm chuffed to bits.
I'll set the new challenge momentarily. |
