Thank you for the vote George! And welcome all to the next instalment of Clues in Blue. I hope there's plenty of scope to play with:

SEA MONSTER

All forms of perversity and profanity positively encouraged. Explanations, as usual, would be gratefully received.

For those in the UK: have a good long weekend.
Steve.

It's been a week and 'sea monster' has managed to garner the fewest responses of any Clue in Blue so far. Given the inclusion of 6 of the 8 most frequently used letters in the English language I had expected it would provide more scope than it apparently did! My apologies for that; and my thanks to all who proffered a clue nonetheless. All of the clues were well done and have provided a great challenge to me to try and pick my favourite from amongst them.

Unplaced - mainly because the author provided an even better offering - but deserving a special mention was the first clue off the block:

Anax's
Being in deep shit when opening for one day during Bank Holiday (3,7)

No matter how I read it I struggle to split "... deep shit ...". Beautifully crafted and typical of our Anax.

3rd place goes to glheard's distasteful:
Giant squid perhaps, produces messy roast semen. (3,7)

Nice and solid. Ticks all the boxes.

In 2nd place boxwood with:
Writhing seamster on Melville's dick (3,7)

Clever and succinct. Managing to get some blueness into the answer was a very special touch.

And the first place, as I'm sure everyone would agree, deservedly goes to:
Flying snot caught by cricketer – fantastic catch! (3,7)

Terrific surface. Nice construction. Surprising and misleading. I took one point away from it for it not being especially blue, but still felt it head-and-shoulders the best of a very good selection.

Many congratulations to Anax!
