With so many excellent clues, it was quite difficult to decide on my favourites, but here goes:

penfold_61's:Type of club where one might find captain wearing shabby hat at end of jetty? (5) - so nearly the brilliant outright winner but, for me, just a little too wordy, and 'end' is doing double duty.

anax's: Vessel heads for Yarmouth and capsizes after 45 minutes? (5) - almost deserves a place, but I cannot read this without wanting to put HT before YAC


3rd place goes to feathers':
Cathy at sea? (5)
- this one grew on me; though a very simple construction, it remained quite a satisfying clue.

2nd place goes to AngryVocab's:
They can drift pointlessly or sail (5)
- though not quite an '&lit' as 'they' suggests plural.

- a very clever and misleading clue, the answer to which would surprise many. Congratulations.
