Boxwood very kindly voted my last effort as the winner of COW#011 for which I gave my humble thanks.
Considering my camping trip of last weekend and my tent almost turning into a huge kite on several occasions, I'd like your offerings for:

HURRICANE

Old potter's wheels (expensive) I store in shade (9)

RR (Rolls Royce = expensive wheels) + I + CAN in HUE
"Old potter" refers to Alex "Hurricane" Higgins

Maybe Catrina gives Ben stick after bible class (9)

Catrina was the Hurricane that blattered New Orleans IIRC. Ben = Hur, followed by stick (cane) after RI (Religious Instruction).

Force twelve kings and one seal to appear in colour (9)

Hurricane is force 12 on the old Beaufort scale, RR + I + CAN (verb to seal in a can) inside HUE.

I think we're all done now, so I'll draw this one to a sad conclusion. Not many entries on this (perhaps it was a difficult word) so I'll just do a 1 and 2.

First Loser:
Penfold with: Maybe Catrina gives Ben stick after bible class (9)
I think it's Katrina, by the way. Excellent, plausible surface and everything works. Very nearly the winner

Non-Loser:
Boxwood:Dropping down initially, churned air blows up a storm (9)
Excellent clue, keeping the theme of the answer going throughout. The first entry in this competition too.

Thanks to all other entrants

So congrats to Boxwood. Over to you for the next challenge

Thank you, NigePun, for the surprising nod in my direction.

I think the word I would like you to clue is:

MODERN.
