Didn't know where else to put this, so... yeah.
Basically, this idea spawned from a conversation I had with a friend of mine a few days ago, but I'll explain THAT part in a bit.
So, out of curiosity, since you've all started watching LWD... has anyone ever caught themselves incorporating things they've seen/heard/watched on LWD into their daily lives? Like insults and such?
For example, this is what happened between me and my friend at school.
Me: We BETTER get a good mark on that project! I can't afford anything less than a 70%!
Friend: You are SUCH a grade-grubber.
Me: *Huge pause*
Me: Wait. You stole that from Life With Derek, didn't you?
Friend: Yeah.
The conversation was longer than that, but basically, before we started watching the show, NEITHER of us had ever heard the term "grade-grubber", and now EVERY time I get a good mark, my friend has this tendency to call me one.
For the record, while I get pretty good grades... I'm not as big a grub as Casey.
Anyways, back to the topic at hand...
... anyone? Or is it just me?
Do you find yourselves using terms like "grade-grubber" and "Klutzilla" all of a sudden?
If so... do tell!

Hahaha that's awesome Miranda!!
The times I've caught a LWD term is my brother once was mocking me and said 'afraid you'll sprain your jazz hands???' And I'm pretty sure it was when my mom was asking me to come to her work cause they were moving things for an event, and I told her I wasn't strong enough to lift some of those things on my own. So that was pretty funny for me. _________________

Yes, actually just yesterday I somehow managed to get 8 points back on a test and referred to myself as a "grade-grubber" _________________

That kinda reminded me of when my friends were joking around about me taking Jazz class. My name is Jasmine but every one just calls me Jazz and they thought it was hilarious that 'Jazz was taking Jazz.'
That had no relation to the topic but whatever...
I've started called people 'keeners.' I really love that word for some odd reason and every since I watched LWD I use it as an insult even when it doesn't apply... _________________

I love the phrase Keener! I think i've said that before
My asst manager is named Derek and i've had this urge once or twice to yell Der-ek! haha but I don't of course.
I like the name Jazz and Jasmine is pretty, never knew that was your real name. I can't keep up with all the intro posts. _________________

I have been meaning to use a few phrases or words from LWD in real life. I'm still waiting for the opportunity to come up. _________________

Same! I want to use "keener" really bad because I love that word, but I don't find too many opportunities to say it, unfortunately. I haven't really known anyone who grade-grubbed since like, 8th grade so I haven't used that one either. _________________ because maybe, you're gonna be the one who saves me.

I have a friend named Eric and I tried yelling Er-ic! But it didn't sound right.
Thank you by the way. _________________

This thread is awesome. I thought I was the only dork who thinks about this stuff! I've started using "keener" and my ears always perk up when anyone says "sorry" now- I listen to the accent and laugh because Canadians say it better. I've also taken to calling my younger brother Derek when he's being mean (this is not incestuous in the slightest because he doesn't know about Dasey, but he likes the show). I just go, "Stop it, Derek," and he rolls his eyes. _________________

Haha, I always make LWD references to my brother as well since he watches the show. Half the time he doesn't know what I'm talking about, though, since he doesn't watch it as often as I do. _________________ because maybe, you're gonna be the one who saves me.

I love the word keener. I was definitely one of those in high school (and still am in college), but I don't think I really grade-grubbed. At least not in extreme cases. (I only asked for extra credit to bring Bs up to As, which I think is justified.)
I did know of one guy in my grade (back in middle school) who requested extra credit to bring his 99 to 100. Yes people .... they do exist!
It's always interesting to watch episodes with my parents though. They always point out words like that. I know they pointed out "keener" once.
Also, my current landlady lived a good portion of her life in Canada. (She still spends half the year there ... ) So I always note her "sorrys." I love it! _________________

Haha, I'm definitely a bit of a keener as well! And it's weird, since I do well in most of my classes (mostly high 80's to 90's) except in math (high 60's to 70's), just like Casey.
I knew a girl who did that as well! We were sort of friends in middle school, but I always found her grade-grubbing ways pretty annoying, especially since she would usually get very high marks, like 99's. More recently, a guy in one of my classes did the extra credit my teacher assigned to bring his grade up to a 100 when he already had a grade somewhere in the high 90's. I didn't even do the extra credit and my grade was somewhere in the low/mid 90's! I don't understand why you'd take the time to do an extra credit essay with a grade like that.
I love the Canadian "sorry" too! I unfortunately know hardly any Canadians (at least not ones with accents from living there) so I don't hear it anywhere other than TV. I was really bothered by the way Max said it in "Ivanwho?" though, for whatever reason. (I had to bring it up!) _________________ because maybe, you're gonna be the one who saves me.

I never noticed the difference between the Canadian sorry and the American sorry until my cousin from Chicago brought it up when we were watching an epsiode (she's a Dasey shipper herself... ) _________________

I love whenever someone says in the show "sorry", I love the way they pronounce it. It's awesome. _________________

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who loves the way they say, "sorry". Michael has the strongest accent on it, and he's the one who made me notice it. It's made me realize how much they say 'sorry' in that show, also.
Actually, once I accidentally said 'sorry' with the Canadian accent, and my mom was like, "Are you Canadian now?"
I've only really said one phrase from LWD. My dad said something to me, and I replied, "I'm picking up what you're putting down." What was even better was that my dad loved that phrase and kept using it whenever he got the chance. _________________
