Double Meaning? - Kendra's Comment/Derek's Cough

I don't recall the name of the episode right now - but the one where Kendra is over for dinner and she's talking to Casey and says 'since I'm dating your step-brother we're practically family.'
Derek started choking when she said that. Sure he probably coughed just generally because she said that...but I know we've all discussed Derek doesn't really accept Casey as "family" family. Do you think maybe half the cough was dedicated to that reason? Thoughts anyone?

I have to leave for work now - I'll be gone for 9 hours!!! Craziness...Hopefully Not So Sweet 16 will be posted and I can't wait to jump into conversation with you guys!! See you then!!

I did notice that too. I wonder why he choked...Perhaps because he can't stand being told the one girl he loves is his 'family'...

I think that's.. the Dating Game?

Cause it's when Kendra is on her 'set up Casey' kick.

But I always loved that Derek chokes there. Thinking of Casey as family always seems to bother him.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that picked up on that. It's been obvious for a while now that he can't think of Casey as being related to him.

YES! I will officially think of this theory every time I watch that scene. Haha.

Another thing that I don't get from that episode...

Derek's wording for telling Kendra the perfect guy for Casey (Complete opposite of what she would want right?). But geez, it's him. That gets me everytime.<3

I don't have the dating game or I'd post his wording. Gr.

All I remember from that scene is him saying someone off the beaten track...or something of that nature.

Haha that's another good point - in a way - he described the outside of his personality. Given if Kendra hadn't been there, I think he would have described himself completely. Without being aware of it!!!

I've always thought that he choked because he never saw Kendra as "the one." She's merely an attractive girl that would amuse him for the time being.

That's the only Dasey angle I have ever seen.

Now that I think of it, it might have been the 'whole sounding like they're married thing' that made him choke. I never really thought of it that way.
