Volume loss

My 501 has suddenly lost a great deal of volume. It still works, but isn't nearly as loud. I replaced ALL the tubes and took it to my tech, but he doesn't have the schematics. Anyway, he tested and cleaned everything, but no luck.

Any ideas?

I had the same problem on mine. There is a resistor (I can't remember if it is a 100 ohm or 100k) that connects to the main volume control. Mine opened and caused what is happening to yours. I see from another post that you have the schematics, so check that first. Hope it helps.

Problem solved. One of the resistors to the Phase Inverter tube was open. My tech fixed it for free!
