what the kids at the high school think about Derek and Casey?

What made me think of it was an 'Aliens in America' episode where a rumor spread around the entire school that Claire and Justin were going out. And they're blood-related siblings. I mean, high school kids start rumors about anything, no matter how weird. And Derek and Casey are merely stepsiblings.

So, basically, if this school were real, do you think there would have been a rumor that had gone around about Derek and Casey being something more than just stepsiblings?

The 'Ivanwho?' scene in the cafeteria made me think of this, too.

I think that if this was a real high school then yeah, rumours would probably be spreading like wildfire, or people just wouldn't be too concerned. I know at my high school gossip is limited to age groups. Basically if there's gossip about a grade 9 or whatever, grade 10, 11 and 12 doesn't hear about it. But I think that if they were portraying a real life high school, the teachers would probably think that Casey and Derek were going out by now.

Yeah I think that too. There are many things that happen in the school that make me wonder if the other kids aren't spreading rumors about them. Like in Bully Brothers when Casey grabs Derek by the arm and drags him into the girls washroom.

I never went to public school...so I'm not really sure how it really goes...but at my school...if something was going on with "the most popular" kid. EVERYONE talked about it. Even if it wasn't true. So since Derek is so popular, he would be talked about a lot. Esp. like everyone else said, since there is so much contact between the two.
Remember in "The Fall" at the end Sam leads Casey away from making her speech and somebody says "I wonder if they're together?"
Derek and Casey have a LOT MORE moments like that...so yeah. Am I making sense? lol

Wouldn't "Rumour Mill" be a good example of what schools are like? Rumors spread the school like wildfire throughout the episode.

I went to a small public school (graduated with a class of 126), but I remember rumors being a constant flow. While I didn't keep big tabs over "who did what," I still managed to hear stories about people's dating history and "performances." Sometimes we even heard rumors from other schools.

Speaking of which ... when our football team lost a playoff game, there were rumors of depression and suicide surrounding our field goal kicker. And these rumors were started in another town! Our schools were rivals, but it was insane how rumors concerning my grade was the highlight of their school! (The town is approximately 45 miles away.)

Yeah rumors are a powerful force! I do think there would be rumors definately with the amount of time they're spending in school together now.
I remember being in high school too! People would start rumors over a girl just simply saying 'hi' to a guy. So if this were in real high school - especially what mine was like, and with moments like those then yeah definately they would be the talk of the hall.

Actually in the author's note in the second chapter of my story Pieces Of A Puzzle, I mentioned I how I thought the kids at school would react.

There will definitly be some rumors and scandals when they get together. Notice, I said, when and not if. Because it's going to happen and everyone knows it.

That Amy idea is really good. I would attempt a story but I got exams coming up so I don't think that would help me pass...
