Brock

Perhaps a blown fuse? Not sure where in the circuit it is on this model.

Cheers
Jim

It could be the recurring "molex" connector issue. It's a multi-pin plastic plug that connects the different circuit boards, such as the main board to the power tube board. The fillament (heater) supply is in the 9-pin plug, which has been found to not hold up to the amount of current going through it, and often starts to burn up. That supply also runs the logo backlight. The connector could have simply come loose, but if you open the chassis, you may find one of them to be a little blackened around the end of the plug. A quick fix may be to wiggle the plug to regain connection (powered down and unplugged of course), but ultimately, the best solution is to take the plugs out and hard wire the boards together, as shown in Lees VL service video.

This actually just happened to me a few days ago!
I was setting up for a show and my beloved amp was no go, luckily i had a friend there that let me borrow his 1954(?) Gibson Explorer amp, it worked well, but it still wasn't my Ampeg!

Here's some pictures I just took of the burned up connector:

check lees' site he sell a repair dvd for that model. i had mine gone over by lee, he worked a miracle and it freakin' rocks just as hard as these "boutique" amps that guys pays 3k to 4k for. if you can afford it and if he's got time thats the best method.
