I'm thinking of replacing the output tranny in my GT-50 head. I've read that quad 6v6's like about 4,000 ohms at the primary. I can get a Hammond 50 watt that reads 3,800. It's a drop-in replacement for a Traynor/YBA-1. I think it would have more weight (5.5lbs.) compared to the original and thus perform more efficiently and clearly. I also want to install a choke in the power section to provide additional filtering and lessen the strain on the power tranny. Any tips or suggestions from someone who has done something similar to their amp?
