Hi Guys!
I own two VL-1002's ...they are awesome amps.
One is very quiet and one has considerabe ac noise when it is on, even if all the knobs are down. Have tried to adjust the hum balance but the problem is still there.
Any Ideas or secrets?
Thanks!

| Same for me. Mine does not hum when the attenuator is turned down, so I am going to look at the amp and schematic and see if there is a bad cap or ground issue around the attenutaor circuit. |

SAME ISSUE HERE....
checked power supply caps using capacitor checker and they read within specified values
not sure what it could be
hums with all volumes off
and an external preamp in the effects return even |

| What worked for me is I went in and resoldered all the connections for the tube sockets etc. I found that some of the joints had gone cold/crystalized over time. I also highly suggest the mods that Lee has in his video for these amps. |

iVE DONE THE MODS , THEY DIDNT FIX ANYTHING to do with hum and noise
Ive taken the preamp and power boards physically out of the amp (major work ) and reflowed as much as possible especially tube sockets , no difference
wish i had an answer |
