Twigusa kindly judged that my offering was this week's winner so, as it's "winner stays on" these days, it's down to me to choose the next phrase for clueing.
Since I've managed to get 2nd place in the previous two competitions, let's have your entries for:

SILVER MEDAL

This is tougher than it looks. At first glance it's tempting to believe there are all kinds of possibilities and I suppose an absence of easy-to-think-of defs doesn't help. My best so far (but give me a few more days) is:

Rival’s led me when running, so I get this? (6,5)

Not great, but at least there's a bit of &lit in there.

I'm beginning to regret setting this one. All I could come up with was a few dodgy anagrams. Shall we scrap this one and start again?

Definitely not. A challenge is a challenge, however hard, and it's not as if your offering is a jumble of J,Q,Xs and no consonants. In "live" setting, this kind of answer would turn up in a crossword because the setter felt sure it would present good clue ideas. Too late to change it once the grid is complete! Remember the old EXPORT DUTY clue ("Charge traffic cops on departure") in the Times last year? It started the same way - I thought the EXPO bit, offering "exhibition" would be the springboard - instead it turned into a 3-day nightmare of head-scratching.

We have to go with SILVER MEDAL - it is our duty!

How wrong I was. There are some marvellous entries here. Keep 'em coming, it'd be nice to see some new names having a go.

Here's my dodgy offering:

Reward for second AGM deal to be thrashed out (6,5)

AG=silver + (M deal)*
