Has anyone had a mod done or know of a mod for a boost in volume for lead breaks etc... Hopefully run off a foot switch? My VL1002 rocks but I have no way of boosting for breaks, tried pedals but they just muddy the sound. Any ideas?

Hi VL-1002

That is a common problem with most amps, it is because when you change input volume, that only controls gain or distortion.
What is needed is to increase the level before the poweramp.

I did this on two of my amps, the M-1000 and my XLA Series, they have an extra master control that you can preset to boost for solo's.

So how do you get the same resoults from the VL, you could have someone mod the amp and put a stacked pot were the master control is and switch back and forth. This way you can set one higher for solo's.
This will probably be expensive.
Another thing you can do is put a gain pedal in the effects loop, this will boost you volume because the Loop Return is just before the power section of the amp....Be Careful

I've had the work done by Tim Evans from Lab Systems - 50/100W switch, transformer wiring and most importantly had the reverb tank removed and using the reverb controls i now have a boost pre-amp and Master volume for the second channel that run off the reverb send on the footswitch. All up the work cost me $300 (AUS) and worth every dollar as the amp is exactly what i need now without drilling any new holes!
