I would like to know what´s in VL-1002 DVD, is it just the free video in fullscreen or it has more about modding and repairing the amp?
This is a great amp but i have some problems that would like to solve, first is the fx loop that changes the sound of the amp (is there a solution for that?) second since i had a blown power tube the amp was never the same again (i´ve always used 6550 tubes) it lost punch and bass and the sound it´s a bit muffled i also have a problem with the preamp pot from the second channel that make like a scratch noise when it reaches near halfway i´ve change the pot and it still does the same so it´s not the pot, i also sent you (Lee Jackson) a email a few years ago exposing some of this troubles and got no answer hope you can answer to me now.
Thank you

The Vl-1002 service dvd is the same as the small one,
On the VL-1002, it has been known since I designed it, that the effects loop is a hybrid of solidstate and tube and this is what Ampeg wanred.
They wanted the amp to cost less,
This causes the effects loop to not work in all conditions ie...Floor effects, Rack effects.
The only option is to completely mod the effects loop circuit and making it completely tube,
This is a najor untertaking and should only be done by a qualified tech.
As you can see, the amps I have designed before and after the VL series has the correct effects loop, with individual send and return controls.
On the output tubes there are several reasons you might have lost punch,
One is the output transformer is bad,
The other is the ik 5 watt screen resistors could be bad,
On the scratchy pots that can be caused by, a bad pot, a bad plate capacitor, bad plate resistor (100k) or a bad tube.
