In my VL1002 I had EH 6CA7 , it's a very good EL34 witch sound a bit like a 6L6 .
I am going to try the Genalex Gold Lion KT88 in my VL503 .

Mine had GE 6550As.

Just tried the Genalex Gold Lion KT88 in place of SED EL34 in my VL503 .

It is a big improvement ; bass are deep , clear with no compression , mids are just right ( not dominant anymore ) and highs are very detailled and not harsh .

A much more refined sound , with more dynamics .

my 1002 has 12ax7's in the preamp and 6550's in power amp. all tung sol
great full sound, not muddy at all. sweet smooth distortion.
