|
|
While watching a rerun of "Make No Prom-ises," a few things really stood out to me.
1) The high school prom was held on a Friday.
I've never heard of proms being held on Friday. (At least where I live.) It's usually on a Saturday. It allows people the whole day to get prepared for the event. I guess the school could have let out for the day, but that just seems silly.
2) Casey is planning EVERYTHING within a week of prom.
Considering how much of a keener Casey is, this seems very out of character. I see her having everything basically planned months in advance. Just more reasons why Season 3 Casey drove me crazy.
There are other nitpicks already discussed in the past, but I don't believe these were ever mentioned.

Huh. Well they probably assume no one cares anyway. I mean if I was ten years younger, I wouldn't even notice those things.

I blame Max for Casey's OOCness. _________________

I second that blaming notion. _________________ Dasey is love.

Also, Derek, Casey and the others aren't seniors. In the states, the prom is primarily for seniors.
I remember being very confused by that.
Is it different in Canada? _________________ "I said I was an <i>addict.</i> I didn't say I had a <i>problem.</i>"

Every high school's prom that I've ever seen in the States is for Juniors and Seniors....and Freshman and Sophomores can go to, just as long as their date is a Senior or Junior.
Is it different in each state or what? O.o _________________ Karissa

My sister's real prom, like her Grad prom, was held on a Friday. The grade 12's got to take the day off to prepare. Then they had Friday and Saturday to get drunk, and Sunday to recover _________________ Veronica

Yeah, my school has prom on Friday..
Also, for the latter, I know what you mean about her waiting until the last minute.. But maybe she had been looking for her dream dress a lot before hand? Just a thought. And for everything else she seemed to be really on it. It seems like she spent a lot of time planning but not a whole lot of time actually doing things (buying her dress, etc.) Makes me think of Monica from Friends, who's also a perfectionist, but in one episode she made tons of plans and lists and then all of a sudden it was the last minute and she realized she hadn't actually DONE any of her plans.
And for junior prom, I guess junior means the one for frosh/soph? (My school doesn't have that.. Freshmen aren't even allowed to attend any dances. xD) I always thought about that, that maybe they meant junior as in the younger half of the school, not as in the actual grade. _________________

At my high school prom, juniors and seniors both went. Freshmen/Sophomores only went if their dates were upperclassmen. (Of course, some of freshmen girls tried to go, and I knew some who went to prom every single year in high school.)
No matter what, the timeline made the prom episode really screwy, because Casey, Derek, and the rest were in grade 10. It was plausible that Casey went because Max was a junior ... but it didn't explain the others. (Or how Derek and Sally got in at the last minute without buying a ticket ahead of time.) Also, it didn't explain how Casey could be crowned queen at a prom for students older than her.
Maybe Casey did overplan and never did anything until later. But judging by her "daydreaming," I still think she just put off everything until the end, which seems very out of character. (Although I blame Max.) I also can't see Casey finally deciding to try something custom-made until the last minute if she's been looking that long. (I think the thought would have crossed her mind maybe a month before the prom.)
Also, Casey never had reservations for a limo or anything else that would imply preparation. It was all discussed over the phone as if "Oh! We better decide this now!"
I tend to believe Casey just lived in dreamworld for the month or two before.
I'm just glad Casey is finally ... thinking clearly as of Season 4. I wanted to smack some sense in the girl so much during Season 3. _________________
