I found something on Tv.com...

*This poster was replying to the Dasey Debate thread over on the forum*

Quote:
You're making it seem like this sort of thing never actually happens. Step sibs do sometimes get together, you know. Im sure they could figure out some sort of 'rules'.

Personally, i think dasey would be good for the show. People who end up being a merged family need to be aware of this possibility. Especially if they have 'two hormonal teenagers'. And people need to understand its not incest. (i know some people against dasey dont think its incest but im just sayin, cause you know, most of them do)

If George and Nore were to be okay with Derek and Casey dating, they would explain to Marti, Lizzie, and Edwin that it isn't wrong. I highly doubt that they would let the three go around getting the wrong idea. --- iluvdasey

I thought it was interesting...I mean don't shows try and teach a good lesson? Maybe this will the be the lesson should dasey ever happen.

Oh and it will, because there is no way they acted married in Misadventures in Babysitting for NOTHING. Also they didn't just happen to pick Ivanhoe off the shelves. They could have picked other characters/stories like King Arthur, Sir Lancelot, etc..but they didn't. This is the second time they've had a "Hero falls for non-blood related sister" reference. The first being in Grade point: Average when they dressed up as Percy and Mary Shelley...a MARRIED couple. Also DaseyVenturi mentioned on Tv.com something about Frankenstein's creator falling in love with his non-blood related "sister".

Unless I'm wrong, but I'm sure that was it. Why would the writers put in all this for nothing? It's got to be for a reason. Why would the writers waste their time dropping hints at a couple they are not going to put together? Even if the cast and crew do joke around, they are still professional enough NOT to do that.

I voted just teasing for the simple fact that while yes Step-sibs can get together, for the target audience it just seems a little too controversial because they're living in the same house and so young. This is not necessarily a story line for your average family/kid show. This is a story line for an older teen drama.

As I've said before, I would love to have Dasey happen but I don't think it will on tv. Only in the world of Fandom.

I think that the Dasey subtext is put in for the Dasey shipper out there so we can get a small fix of what we want with out the show turning too 'controversial' with an obvious relationship.

I definitely think that some of the people that work on that show are Shippers and try to semi-please us with the hints.

I also went with the unintentional option for the same reasons as A.L. & MaybeBaby.
I am one of the few D/C shippers that doesn't think it will actually happen due to the fact that it's still a family show. Even though the tension is clearly there and has been developing immensely throughout the past
3 years, the target audience sadly has not changed.

I think Dasey was totally unintentional on the writers part-- that all came from Mike and Ash-- which is weird for me to say since I'm also one of the few who don't support Mashley as a couple. Best friends, definitley, but a couple? No. Yet somehow I think it all started with them. My theory is as follows:

The writers started off going for your typical blended family comedy where the eldest siblings truly did dislike each other. But Mike and Ash landed the roles and were so close from the get go that it seeped through on-screen. After a couple episodes full of S1 fighting and UST, the older, more perceptive viewers caught that closeness and our beloved Dasey was born. Of course the cast and crew caught word of this and the writers quickly realized that Dasey was in high-demand, so they (despite that evil Daphne's constant objections) started giving us the hints that we now live for. Basically they just went with the flow of the show. And here we are. But, it is still a family show, as I said, so they aren't going to allow it to go any further than that. Well, maybe a little further, because you know they'll continue to give us some really adorable moments *a hug* and we'll continue to squeal our thanks. It's a beautiful gift they're giving us. Lol.

Yes, yes, I've thought way too much about it and have now written a book about it. I apologies.

I think that maybe in the beginning when they first started writing the script to the show, the writers might not have intended for it to be a Dasey thing then.

But with fanbase being almost 100% Dasey - and it taking it's turn in that direction - I believe that the writers might put stuff into the show now for foreshadowing.

It's not that I disagree with everyone who does think it's teasing. But I don't think they're going to let one side down and the other one up. I definately don't believe the anti's will have the victory. While our side may not see a full blown romance, it's hard to believe they would prosper Derek and Casey's relationship like this for nothing.

I don't believe they wrote them dressing like a married couple for nothing.
I don't believe they wrote their emotions of jealousy, and adoration for nothing.
And I don't believe they wrote them being the exact object of each other's attention, hands down, for nothing.

If it was all for nothing, they would have stopped the charade long ago. This show wasn't originally supposed to even be about anyone else other than Derek and Casey. I think it's awesome we have Edwin and Lizzie, and Marti. But I view that as a blessing and a privelage. The show was originally supposed to be called 'My Life With Derek'. All about Casey and Derek. Period.

So getting the other characters along with them are awesome, but before they decided to write the other characters into this so much, and before they decided to take all these twists and turns with the storyline and confuse us with the episode lists, it was only going to be a story of a boy and a girl.

So maybe the story line has strayed and waivered a little bit. But what we've gotten, I refuse to believe is teasing and for nothing. Mike and Ash are good to us and probably do influence some of the screenplay - like the touching. But they didn't write the script to Grade Point Average, or Make-No Promises. Or Misadventures in Babysitting.

No, it was still written that they dress like a married couple. Act like they have kids together. That Derek has come to take Casey to prom. That Derek drives Casey crazy.

Like I said before, I respect both sides of this, I actually love reading what everyone has had to say so far. It's such an awesome and mature debate!

But my beliefs are such as stated. So...lol! Sorry I ranted for so long! But hey, we all decided that that was okay to do here, right? Very Happy

I honestly don't know if Dasey will happen. But as for them acting married in MAIB, I think it was for comedic effect, I don't see that as a foreshadowing. However their choice in literature is interesting. As Joanne said before, they didn't have to choose Mary and Percy Shelley or Ivanhoe. There are tons of book out there.

I think that the hints are there for Dasey shippers to be happy. The writers, and directors seem to put them in for a reason, and that's to make us happy.

This is completely offtopic but, that sentence you said reminded me exactly of Drake & Josh. And by the end of that show, they at least got a kiss between the two! (not to mention they are just like Derek and Casey, always touching/grabbing/groping each other, lol Very Happy I love them so much!) As a matter of fact, They get away with so much more slashy/dirty things in that show because: 1) it's hidden stuff, the little kids can't see it, and 2) it's Nickelodeon, they are way more lenient about that kind of thing.

--------------

Anyway, I basically agree with what stephluvvsyou said, I respect both sides. I do think it's interesting to have them choose those particular books and themes to add in, and I enjoy all the hints; but the thing is that it's still a family/kid (at least that was the intended audience) show. The other thing is, the show was originally going to be set, where Derek & Casey were in junior high! I'm glad they didn't go with that, then it would be less likely to happen. On the other hand, sometimes in certain parts of episodes, I really have a strong feeling that Dasey could really happen.

But I have no idea, so, anywho, that was my two cents. Hope I didn't bore anyone too much ^^;

I haven't seen the episode (or even the kiss) in english but from this video I assume Josh was VERY excited about something and Drake just happened to be there.

^ Drake gets Josh tickets and backstage passes to Oprah. Throughout the show, it's known that Josh has this incredible love for Oprah Winfrey. He has a cutout of her that he talks to, and watches her show religiously.

That episode holds the only lips kiss they share. However, Drake has kissed Josh's cheek once (or twice). They also love to hug, and well ... lay on each other's shoulders and whatnot.

DaseyVenturi could give a much longer description of their relationship, but I'll do what I can.

In one episode (Josh is Done or something like that), it's obvious how important they are to each other. Josh tells Drake he is done with him, and Drake slowly falls apart. He simply can't function without Josh by his side. He even gets emotional in science class before walking out. Of course, Josh comes back to Drake, and they play a rousing game of ping pong.

There's another episode in which they befriend people who are eerily similar to the other. While some of it was done for comical effect, it does show how much they care about each other.

Nickelodeon is much more lenient when it comes to their shows.

-----------------

About the topic of Dasey happening or not. I wish they would tackle the idea. Of course, I would want the show to handle it wisely. I would hate to see Derek and Casey suddenly get together with ease.

That's why I always thought a movie platform would be best (if not a two-part episode). Casey could analyze the problems, and both George and Nora could discuss the situation with Derek and Casey. By doing this, the show would be educating families about the handling of this situation along with the idea of acceptance.

Yeah, because they aren't going to go all fanfic on us and make Nora and George kick them out for being together. They'll probably set some ground rules for them or something.

Sightly OT: Don't you wish we knew what Edwin and Lizzie REALLY thought about Casey wearing blue eyeshadow? There should be a fanfic about that. I kinda thought they would say something, but they didn't sadly. Hide and seek? lol. Nothing like a good inside dasey joke.

Back OT:

So yeah...this week season 3 will be over, Dally will be together (Great...) and we won't see season 4 for about 4 centuries. That's how long it feels waiting for seasons with me. I wish they had a blooper reel podcast for season 4 though. I don't mind if the music is there, the clips alone get me all excited. I had the same reaction on the bloopers for season 3. However the pocasts have been more of a filler lately. They haven't really shown any good ones lately. It's mostly stuff we've seen parts of before (Tell the truth..) so there's not really anything new.

^aw that's not fair I just watched the end of that episode and missed the kiss part. Funny because I watched that with my mom and told her about it and she looked at me strange. Isn't that the one where she puts a restraining order on him or is that another one?

I have gone back and forth with whehter or not Dasey will actually happen. The problem with focusing all my energy that it IS going to happen would just be a huge letdown if it didn't. However I can't say that it won't either. There are too many underlying jealousy episodes. Male Code Blue, Date with Derek, Crushing the Coach, Cheerleading Casey to name a few. Even if that wasn't the direction they were going and it's just that Mike and Ash have great chemisty which a agree 100%. I have to wonder about the storylines of some of those episodes. There are ways of making them care about each other in a family way but these storylines keep falling back on their jealousy or feelings and not in a brother/sister manner. I could see maybe a friendship but absolutely not a family thing.

Joanne: I LOVE the "hide and seek" innuendo. We know for sure Dally is together? Damn I hope not. I still am pretty amped to see jealous Casey.

For all you Sally fans...please don't hate me for saying this! But I think sometimes that if Derek did get with her she'd kind of just be the next best thing after Casey. Like...we know that Casey is the one that owns Derek's heart so I wonder if Derek thinks that settling for Sally would be the best he could get. Do you guys know what I mean?
Like Sally has the same kind of attitude about not taking any of Derek's crap. And while Sally doesn't compare to Casey, maybe in Derek's head he thinks it will be the best he can do.

If Casey hurries and deals with her feelings she can prove to Derek that it's not true he doesn't need to settle for the next best thing!

I forgot about the time gaps between seasons. *sighs* Blah...we'll just have to keep ourselves entertained with fanvids and gossip over what season 4 will be like.

The press release for Season 4 should be given out soon I think. Especially since the season is finished filming.

I don't know why, but I can never stay at the same side. I always go back and forth from "intentional" to "unintentional". For example, I'll read a couple of Anti's comments from IMDb and start being sad, then I read couple of pro dasey comments and I become all happy again. However, most of the times I believe Dasey will probably happen. After all, even if the Antis claim most of the hints are from Mike and Ash, we can still content ourselves with the fact that the show hired them BECAUSE of their chemistry. So even if the hints are unintentional they are still intentional, if you get what I am saying Wink .
