Hello, it seems that I've got problems with a VL503...Its not sounding well, maybe because of the capacitors (the amp is old).. the tubes are new....The main problem is that I never heard one of these, so I beg you to upload some recordings made with the amp to hear what should be the tone... I know because I read reviews that this amp has got a big variety of tones, but it would really help me to hear some demos...
Thank You
ok, ok.... if no one has demos, please take a little time to describe the sound....in harmony central there are only comments like: oh, great sound, the bes amp I've ever heard..... but I need an accurate description of each channel... the best you can do is to compare it to famous bands...
Please....

Channel one should be clean like a fender, channel two should have some crunch like a jcm800 and really sounds best run loud w/out the attenuator. Channel 3 is high gain ala boogie and does the best metal sound of the three. When you say new tubes, did you replace the 6 preamp tubes as well as the 2 power tubes? I did both, but it didn't really shine til I did the preamp tubes. Make sure to get nice tubes. Also make sure its biased correctly. Yeah, these beasts are getting old, so caps can go at any time. Mine has a few scratchy pots and the attenuator seems to introduce some intermittent crackle, so I don't use it. Good luck. -L-
thank you for the reply... yes, I changed all the tubes, and the amp is correctly biased (I suppose, because of the lights in the back of the amp).
It still doesn't sound as it should according to your description...
I also connected other preamps through the effects loop, and it sounds bad, the same as the built in preamps.... The problem (at least one of them) might be in the power amp section so I think Ill change power supply capacitors...
