Lee,
I recently read a reply on a post in this forum where you were discussing tubes for the xls500c. I have been using the EH-6L6 for the output but thought I could do a little better for my playing(70's hardrock and progressive blues). Without going to the true vintage tubes it looked like my best alternative was the JJ Tesla el-34. what I ended up with is the JJ tesla6ac7 matched pair. can you tell me what difference if any in sound I can expect between the true el-34 and the 6ac7? Thanks, and WTG on the the best amp I ever owned

6CA7 and EL-34 are the same. 6CA7 is the American number and EL-34 is the European number. I can't remember who made the military version of the 6CA7 but it was supposed to be a better tube.
