Derek says to Sam "Fine, be the cute girl's friend". Right after Sam said that he and casey are good friends now, thereby calling casey cute!! Idk if anyone else already mentioned this, but I just squeeled watching the episode. Comments?
And I love how Derek automatically assumes Jamie is talking about Casey when he says step-sister.

Ha, he does call Casey (indirectly) cute!
Casey is always on his mind, plus I love how he has to comment about her when Jamie's asking him about Lizzie at Smellie Nellie's.

Personally Sally kind of reminds of Casey. Like, they have certain independant qualities that obviously set them apart, but the fact that they are independant and strong-minded. I think it's something that attracted him to Sally that Casey had, but had to settle for Sally because it would be less problematic. Also she didn't say she hated him on a regular basis.

I know right!? At first I thought, woah, did he just call Casey cute?
So it's really fun to think on, and twist for our own Dasey loving way. But he IS referring to the girl Sam was into, you are right!
